JOUST · CHALLENGE OF 2026-10-12
CLOSED · 9 PLAYERS
HOW THE DAY WENT
Monday, October 12 brought JOUST, at level 5, and 9 people played.
ELVIS TECK won by a street with 11,650 points, 6,625 more than ELI in second. POLINOMIOS rounds out the podium with 2,875.
Among the top 9, the average was 2,708 points, and 2 finished on zero.
THE SCREEN
It started on screen 2 of the 3 that JOUST has; clearing it leads on to the rest, in an order that depends on the day. It was played at level 5, with the same seed for everyone: the same enemies and the same pieces in the same order.
THE MUSIC
El Capitan (marcha), John Philip Sousa, 1896.
It comes from Sousa's operetta of the same name, premiered in 1896; the march joins two of its tunes.
It is in the public domain, transcribed to chiptune with square and triangle waves, the way it would sound on an Atari 2600.
ABOUT TODAY'S GAME
You fly an ostrich by flapping: each press is one flap, not continuous flight. Collisions with enemy riders are settled by height — whoever comes in from above wins.
A downed enemy leaves an egg. Collect it and it stays points; leave it for eight seconds and it hatches into a rider faster than the last. The side edges wrap: exit right, enter left.
· Scoring is flat, with no wave multiplier. Surviving pays, but it doesn't explode: an exceptional run lands around 17,000, comparable to the rest of the arcade.
