LA PROCESION DE LOS DORMIDOS
Horror · Story · Demo · Extra game
Survival horror on the real streets of Sahuayo. Demo: the first three chapters.
WHAT IT IS
Liobas left Sahuayo fifteen years ago without saying goodbye. He drives back before dawn and finds the town in fog, empty, with the bells ringing on their own. The people are still there, doing what they always did: sweeping, selling, praying, staring at the church. They don't die: they fall and get up. And they answer to their own names. A story game of about an hour and a half that you piece together by reading: police reports, council minutes, unsent letters, a priest's notebook.
The street layout of downtown Sahuayo comes from OpenStreetMap: the bus station, the town hall, Constitución, the plaza, the market, the Sagrado Corazón and its catacombs, Cristo Rey. The rest is fiction: the Brotherhood, the vessel and what lies beneath the town are invented, and no real person appears.
HOW TO PLAY
Arrows or WASD to walk, Shift to run (uses breath), E to use, read and talk, F or click to hit or shoot, Q to switch weapons, J for the journal, M for the map. On the phone there's a stick and buttons. Lighting a candle saves the game. Dialogue is read by a chip voice and can't be skipped: when it's done, the E appears.
THE DEMO AND THE FULL GAME
The demo has chapters 1 to 3: the return, the plaza, the market and the church. The full game has eight (the catacombs, the Sagrado Corazón, El Infiernito, the tunnel and Cristo Rey) and will be released as a paid game, on the web and as an Android app. It's in Spanish, English and Japanese.
INSPIRATIONS
FAITH: The Unholy Trinity (Airdorf) for the lines on black, the rotoscoped cinematics and the voice; the Atari 2600 for the 128-colour palette and the fat pixels; Silent Hill for the fog and the radio that warns you; Forbidden Siren because the town is the monster; Resident Evil for the story told through documents. All the sound is chiptune synthesized on the fly, without a single audio file.
