LUNAR LANDER
Physics · Precision · Lunar Lander (Atari, 1979)
Land the ship on the pad with what little fuel you have.
Free play does not count for the leaderboard: it keeps your best on this device only. Today's challenge is one run per person.
HOW IT PLAYS
Bring a ship down on little fuel and set it on a pad. Gravity always pulls; the engine pushes along the nose, which turns through 16 positions.
Landing demands three things at once: touching down on a pad rather than rock, arriving slowly (under 0.35 sideways drift and 0.75 descent) and arriving upright, nose up. Miss any one of them and it is a crash.
CONTROLS
Left and right turn the nose. A fires the engine and burns fuel.

TO SCORE MORE
· Brake early and high. Close to the ground there is no room left to kill your speed and the engine works no miracles.
· What kills most is not falling fast, it is arriving tilted: nose sideways and the landing is refused even at a crawl.
· Narrow pads carry a high number and pay double or triple. With fuel to spare it is worth crossing to one.
· The engine pushes where the nose points, so killing a drift means aiming against it, not straight up.
