DAMAS TURCAS

DAMAS TURCAS

Board · 1 on 1 · Damas turcas (Türk Daması)

Draughts played straight, not diagonally: a different game.

This game is for playing with others: create a party, share the code and play the same rounds.

HOW IT PLAYS

Not English draughts with another name: it is played orthogonally, not diagonally, and that changes the whole game. Sixteen men per side on the second and third ranks, with the back rows empty.

Men move one square forward or sideways, never backwards, and capture by jumping in those same directions. Capturing is compulsory and you must take the maximum available: if one move captures three and another captures one, only the three counts.

Captured pieces are removed immediately, not at the end of the chain, so the square frees up and can be crossed again. The king flies: it travels whole ranks and files, and captures by jumping a single piece with gaps before and after, landing anywhere beyond; within a chain it may not turn 180 degrees.

CONTROLS

Tap the piece and then the destination, or D-pad and FIRE. Reachable squares are marked.

TO SCORE MORE

· The majority rule is in charge: before moving, count what each option captures, because the game will not let you pick the small one.

· And use it against them: set up two captures and your opponent is forced into the long one even when it is the one that sinks them.

· Crowning matters more than in English draughts, because the king flies from side to side. Push a man to the back the moment you have a clear file.

· Since captures are orthogonal and not diagonal, pieces protect each other side by side, not on the diagonal. Normal draughts intuition will mislead you here.
