👑 ADRIAN: “SHEIMBAUM ME CIRCUNCIDO” REPORT
HOW THE DAY WENT
Friday, September 25 brought NIBBLER, at level 3, and 12 people played.
ADRIAN won with 5,480 points, just 390 ahead of CYBER FANTASMA: a day settled by a hair. POLINOMIOS rounds out the podium with 3,710.
Among the top 10, the average was 2,915 points.
THE SCREEN
It started on screen 2 of the 3 that NIBBLER has; clearing it leads on to the rest, in an order that depends on the day. It was played at level 3, with the same seed for everyone: the same enemies and the same pieces in the same order.
THE MUSIC
El Danubio azul, Johann Strauss (hijo), 1866.
The Viennese waltz par excellence. It premiered with a choir to a lukewarm reception; the purely orchestral version is the one that went round the world.
It is in the public domain, transcribed to chiptune with square and triangle waves, the way it would sound on an Atari 2600.
ABOUT TODAY'S GAME
The maze snake where walls do not kill: at a corner it turns by itself, at a junction it stops and waits for your call. The only things that kill are biting yourself and running out of clock.
Stopping at a junction is allowed —it was in the 1982 arcade— but only for ten seconds: after that the clock starts running faster, and by eighteen it is at sixteen times. The bar at the top flashes red when that happens.
Each screen brings two more bites than the last (12 on the first) and the snake keeps its length across screens, like the original.
· The time bonus decides the run: on screen 4, thirty spare seconds are 1200 points, more than every bite on that screen put together.
