HOW THE DAY WENT

Saturday, October 10 brought NIBBLER, at level 5, and 10 people played.

TAKIAN MADAFAKA won with 7,380 points; ADRIAN finished 2,000 behind. RASTER DRAGON #2 rounds out the podium with 3,180.

Among the top 10, the average was 3,165 points.

THE SCREEN

Screenshot of the NIBBLER challenge on 2026-10-10

It started on screen 2 of the 3 that NIBBLER has; clearing it leads on to the rest, in an order that depends on the day. It was played at level 5, with the same seed for everyone: the same enemies and the same pieces in the same order.

THE MUSIC

Marcha de los soldaditos de madera, Álbum para la juventud op. 39, P. I. Chaikovski, 1878.

From the Album for the Young, twenty-four easy pieces Tchaikovsky wrote for his nephew.

It is in the public domain, transcribed to chiptune with square and triangle waves, the way it would sound on an Atari 2600.

ABOUT TODAY'S GAME

The maze snake where walls do not kill: at a corner it turns by itself, at a junction it stops and waits for your call. The only things that kill are biting yourself and running out of clock.

Stopping at a junction is allowed —it was in the 1982 arcade— but only for ten seconds: after that the clock starts running faster, and by eighteen it is at sixteen times. The bar at the top flashes red when that happens.

Each screen brings two more bites than the last (12 on the first) and the snake keeps its length across screens, like the original.

· The time bonus decides the run: on screen 4, thirty spare seconds are 1200 points, more than every bite on that screen put together.
