👑 ADRIAN: “ES MERF 0 NADA” REPORT
HOW THE DAY WENT
Wednesday, October 21 brought MR. DO!, at level 5, and 2 people played.
ADRIAN won with 810 points, just 50 ahead of ELI: a day settled by a hair.
THE SCREEN
It started on screen 1 of the 3 that MR. DO! has; clearing it leads on to the rest, in an order that depends on the day. It was played at level 5, with the same seed for everyone: the same enemies and the same pieces in the same order.
THE MUSIC
El Capitan (marcha), John Philip Sousa, 1896.
It comes from Sousa's operetta of the same name, premiered in 1896; the march joins two of its tunes.
It is in the public domain, transcribed to chiptune with square and triangle waves, the way it would sound on an Atari 2600.
ABOUT TODAY'S GAME
A clown digs tunnels through an orchard collecting cherries, which come in bunches of eight. Monsters come out one by one from the den in the middle and chase you through the tunnels; the blinking ones are diggers and head straight for you through the dirt. A screen ends when you collect every cherry or kill every monster, whichever comes first.
You fight back with the power ball, which runs along the tunnels and bounces off the dirt, and with the apples: they fall when you dig away the dirt under them and squash whatever they catch, you included. You can also push them sideways along a tunnel. Each screen brings one more monster (up to nine), and faster ones, and they keep speeding up if you linger on a screen.
· The ball lasts 3 seconds and comes straight back if it hits nobody. But every kill makes it slower to return: 2, 4, 6, 8 and then 10 seconds on the same screen. Save it for when a monster corners you.
