HOW THE DAY WENT
Friday, November 6 brought SNAKE, at level 5. Nobody has finished a run yet: the first to play takes the top spot.
THE SCREEN
The same seed for everyone: the same enemies and pieces in the same order.
THE MUSIC
For two centuries it was thought to be Bach's, since it sits in the notebook he prepared for his wife. In the 1970s it turned out to be by Christian Petzold.
Public domain, as square- and triangle-wave chiptune.
ABOUT TODAY'S GAME
The snake runs on a 16x17 board of large cells (10 px, sized for a thumb on a phone). Every fruit makes it longer, and every four fruits it moves one tick faster: it starts at one cell every 8 ticks and can reach one every 3.
- Going fast is not only riskier, it pays more. At top speed a fruit is worth 35 instead of 10, so surviving long with few fruits scores worse than eating often.
