PIPE MANIA
Puzzle · Against the clock · Pipe Mania / The Assembly Line (1989)
Lay the pipe before the water arrives.
Free play does not count for the leaderboard: it keeps your best on this device only. Today's challenge is one run per person.
HOW IT PLAYS
Lay pipe on a 10x10 grid before the water arrives. This is no leisurely puzzle: the water starts on its own once the delay runs out and from then on advances, pipe or no pipe. Every round squeezes from three sides: the delay shrinks (from about 15 seconds to 3 by round 8), the water runs faster (down to half a second per cell) and more cells are required (one and a half more per round).
Pieces come in a queue of five and cannot be chosen: you place whichever is at the front, and whatever doesn't fit has to be spent somewhere. Clearing a round needs a minimum run that keeps growing; every extra cell is points.
CONTROLS

TO SCORE MORE
· Pieces that don't fit aren't discarded, they are dumped. Put them clear of the route and close to the cursor — walking to a corner costs more time than the water gives you.
· Replacing a pipe the water hasn't reached is free and costs no points. What you cannot touch is a pipe that already has water in it.
· Each pipe is crossed once, and the cross twice (once per axis). There are no closed loops that circle round racking up points.
· Once the minimum is covered, keep extending ahead of the water: the extra run is most of the round's score.
