QIXTODAY'S CHALLENGE
Territory · Risk · Qix (Taito, 1981)
Carve up the board without the Qix touching your line.
Free play does not count for the leaderboard: it keeps your best on this device only. Today's challenge is one run per person.
HOW IT PLAYS
Carve up the board. You leave your own ground by drawing a line into the open space, and when you step back onto your ground the area you closed becomes yours — but only the half the Qix is NOT in.
While drawing you are defenceless: if the Qix touches your line, that's it. Sparx patrol the border of what you've claimed, round the corners, and cannot enter the open space: they won't follow you there.
CONTROLS
Directions. Stepping into the open starts the line; returning to your own ground closes it. You cannot cross your own line.

TO SCORE MORE
· The big move is splitting the board side to side: the half without the Qix is claimed whole in one stroke. A well-timed split takes 73% and the round at once.
· What matters is where the Qix is when you CLOSE, not when you start. A long crossing takes time, and in that time the creature changes sides.
· If a Sparx comes along the border, escape inward by drawing. They cannot leave the frontier, so the open space is shelter.
· Judge a line by the whole of it, not by where it starts: a crossing goes through the middle even when it begins in a quiet corner.
